About us

How it all began

Stone and mortar build a house; spirit and love adorn it.

In a 13-month construction period, an old property at Neue Mühlgasse 1 was turned into an architectural eye-catcher that blends beautifully into Rülzheim's townscape. Combining old and new was a small challenge for the Humbert architecture office, but by the opening in April 2014 the many visitors could see for themselves in sunny spring weather: all the stylishly furnished apartments are a success. We placed great value on functional, very high-quality yet comfortable furniture, while also attending to the small, tasteful details. The apartments range from 28 to 63 sqm, feature south-facing balconies or terraces, fully equipped fitted kitchens and very exquisite bathroom fittings.

What is a "boardinghouse"?

The difference from a hotel or guesthouse is that a boardinghouse is usually chosen for a longer stay. It is therefore used above all by companies sending employees to other locations for external projects over an extended period; accommodation in a boardinghouse is considerably cheaper than a hotel. But it is also excellent for family holidays, short breaks alone or as a couple, or for a single overnight stay. Life in a boardinghouse is very self-sufficient. The excellent infrastructure and scenic surroundings ensure well-being well beyond the working day.

What we are especially proud of

With Boardinghouse Rülzheim we captured the spirit of this economically strong region, bringing the charm of the Southern Palatinate to business and private guests alike while strengthening local purchasing power. Our boardinghouse is regarded as a real enrichment in our community and quickly became one of "the" places to stay in our beautiful Southern Palatinate.

The municipality of Rülzheim - in the heart of the Southern Palatinate

Our beautiful, sun-blessed Southern Palatinate invites you to a wealth of activities. The towns of Germersheim, Wörth and Karlsruhe are easily reached by tram (the stop is about 700 metres away). There are no limits to your sporting and cultural leisure activities. A tennis centre, bathing lake, fitness studio and much more are all within walking distance of the boardinghouse. A visit to the local winegrowers with their quality wines and their well-known Palatine cuisine rounds off your stay.

Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is unique in its historical and architectural dimension and lies 25 kilometres from Boardinghouse Rülzheim. The very attractive town of Landau is a 20-minute drive away.

As a bike-friendly host, we are certified with the ADFC bett+bike seal. The boardinghouse has a lockable bicycle storage room with a charging station for your e-bike. Cyclists are very welcome.
